Harvested from the largest tea growing area of the world, the Assam area of North India, Assam Broken Orange Pekoe tea is full bodied and malty, with a brightly colored liquor. This tea produces a strong cup, due to its small leaf size.
The origins of "orange" in orange pekoe are not universally agreed upon. Some think it comes from the golden orange color of these particular leaves when plucked; others suggest that it refers the fact that in China, sometimes the flavor of these leaves were enhanced by orange blossoms, which can be found in other Chinese Teas. What is agreed upon is that "orange" has nothing to do with this tea's flavor.
